Hi everyone!
This month I’ll be sharing weekly updates on my NaNoWriMo progress. These posts will be a bit different than what I usually share here, so if you’re not interested in how many words I’m writing on a weekly basis, don’t fret. Things will get back to normal soon.
In last week’s post, I mentioned that this week’s post might be in video format. It’s not, I was thinking this week was Thanksgiving week. Since that’s next week, those updates are the ones that might be in video format.
Monday, Day 14: I wrote at Starbucks this morning then spent the rest of the day knee deep in paying bills for my uncle’s estate. I made a honey sriracha pork loin in the crockpot. It was delicious!
Day 14 Word Count: 2,217
Tuesday, Day 15: I sat down to write and had no idea what to say. So instead, I spent some time updating my outline, which eventually sparked creativity and I was able to get some words down.
Day 15 Word Count: 1,244
Wednesday, Day 16: I got all of two hours of sleep last night. Then around midnight, my eyes popped open and I was wide awake. I tossed and turned for a couple of hours before I finally gave up and turned on the tv. I was a zombie most of the day and the most productive thing I did was clean out my email inbox. I forced myself to write something, anything and gave up after 245 words… that I’m pretty sure will all be deleted… after 11/30 of course!
Day 16 Word Count: 245
Thursday, Day 17: I didn’t get a chance to sit down to write until late afternoon. Once I started, the words poured out of me. I would have gotten more, but my husband and I had somewhere to be. I thought about canceling, but we had not seen these friends in months, so I made good notes for tomorrow and hope to have another productive day.
Day 17 Word Count: 2,900
Friday, Day 18: I went back to Starbucks and got some words in before I had to get back to work. It was a crazy day, but I did get some more words in after dinner… I’m feeling completely unorganized and need to spend some time updating my outline because I made some changes and now I’m having a hard time keeping things straight. Indie Writer Fest starts tomorrow so I think I’ll spend the time in between session working on that.. well, at least until the Dawgs game starts.
Day 18 Word Count: 1,842
Saturday, Day 19: Indie Writer Fest! Natalia Leigh’s presentation was amazing. So much good info on editing. I highly recommend her YouTube channel. I was able to get through all of Act One and Act Two in between presentations. Instead of going through my outline, I formatted my Google Docs draft to show where each “scene” begins on the sidebar. I’m using quotes there because these aren’t actual scenes in some cases, but notes for scenes that I have not drafter yet. I still managed to get some words down, which I had not planned on. 🙌
Day 20 Word Count: 908
Sunday, Day 20: Day 2 of Indie WriterFest. I had something come up so I was only able to catch 2 presentations, both of which were so informative and inspired me. Victoria J. Price and Sarra Cannon. Amazing. I’m still ahead of schedule to win Nano, but I think I might fall behind next week with us traveling and it being a holiday weekend here in the States. We don’t get home until 11/28 and I seriously doubt I’ll be able to write that day, which leaves me with two days to reach 50k. I’ll be conservative and say that I can get 2,000 words in over those two days. That leaves me with over 4,000 words to write next week. That doesn’t sound like a lot, but given two of those days are travel days, one is Thanksgiving, and my writing time will be quite limited, it might be a tall order to fill.
Day 20 Word Count: 949
Week 3 Word Count: 10,305
Total Words Written: 43,854/50,0000

How I’m keeping the well filled: I started a new knitting project the other day and it’s coming along nicely. I love mindless knitting. I started rereading another favorite series – I’m all about the rereads lately – and have been listening while I knit.
What I’m watching: I finally caught up on Grey’s Anatomy and after the last two episodes, I have to say that I am salty about some things. I won’t say what for fear of spoilers, but if you know, you know and I am here to discuss it if anyone wants to. I have thoughts. I started the new season of The Crown last night and I have thoughts on this too… is it just me or does this season not measure up to the previous ones? I feel like the casting is off and I’m bored to tears. Ep 1 was alright, but 2 and 3 were a struggle to get through. I hope it gets better.
What I’m reading: I just started Fair Game, book 2 of the Alpha and Omega series by Patricia Briggs.
What I’m listening to: besides audiobooks, not much.
