December Reading Wrap Up & January Plans

I read six books in December. I was actually surprised that I was able to finish that many. It feels like I hardly read this month.

I’m got two more of Darynda Jones’s Charley Davidson series read and oh wow, I cannot wait to start book nine! The series hit a major turning point in book eight and I cannot wait to dive back in to Charley’s world.

I read two more books in the Alpha and Omega series by Patricia Briggs. I was surprised that to find that I enjoyed Burn Bright so much more the second time around. I think the Bran revelation early in that book soured me the first time I read it.

I also read two indie books. The latest entry in KF Breene’s Leveling Up series was – as expected – a lot of fun. A Vampire’s Fate by fellow Heartie (and the host of some of my favorite writing sprints) Rhiannon Futch was an impulse read and I’m so glad I took a chance. It was very good!

Moving on to January…

2023 is going to be a year of reading challenges for me. Anyone else planning on doing the GoodReads ATY challenge? I have not participated in a few years but I’m all in for 2023. If you’re on GoodReads, let’s be friends! I’m also participating in the #IndieFantasyChallenge on Instagram and my book club’s annual challenge. I can’t wait to get started and have already planned out my first few reads.

My plan is to plan out 4 books per month and then if I have time left, read whatever I want for the rest of the month.

For January, I plan to read The Family Game by Catherine Steadman, Babel by RF Kuang, Hell Bent by Leigh Bardugo, and Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin.

2022 GoodReads Reading Challenge update: I read 105/100 books. I started the year with a 52 book goal, then upped it to 75, and then 100. I think for 2023, I’ll just set a 75 book goal and leave it at that number.
